About the artist

Cecilia Sjölund is a Swedish painter based in Stockholm. She is an architect educated at KTH Stockholms´s  Royal Institute of Technology.  She worked for many years in project management of urban developments, but concentrates now on her artwork.

Traditional oil techniques are combined with a contemporary perspective; the compositions tell insightful stories about small, intimate everyday moments.

“I am fascinated by how the sunlight changes the way we experience a room, a building or each other, how the colors changes and shadows and reflections are added.

I also find body language very interesting. How we communicate with movement, facial expressions and gestures. Both conscious and subconscious movements, it is often enough to see the shadow of a person we know well to immediately see who it is, it is not only the profile, but also the posture and body language.”
